Our Methods

Overview

This project has been designed to maximise capability and effeciency. we are able to independently run the entire process from maintaing a seed library to analyzing and interpreting the data. We also have the cability to out-contract expirements to other research organizations or like-minded individuals.

Variety and Diversity

Our constantly expanding seed library aims to cover all of the common and readily available crop plant families, as well as less common ones to ensure the broadest coverage for available genes. The genes that allow plants to produce the hundreds of thousands of known secondary metabolites are spread out through many families and even species, so unlocking the full potential of HAP starts with a strong and diverse germplasm catalogue.

Optimization and Scalability

Using only sprouted plants, we are able to have the fastest turnaround times as well as a much smaller physical footprint. We utilize 3D printing and other technologies to cheaply and quickly solve bottlenecks and optimize workflow so that the largest number of compounds and plants can be tested.

Compound Analysis

We use High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to detect and analyze transformed compounds in our experiments. Our HPLC instrument is able to detect multiple wavelengths simultaneously and covers UV, visible light, and part of the nearinfared spectrum (190-950nm).
